Privately owned subsidized housing is when the government gives financial help to the apartment building owner. This helps the owner offer low rent to individuals, families, seniors, and people with disabilities who need help paying for rent.
Get help finding apartments that are available to rent:
HUD has an online search tool to help you find subsidized apartment buildings near you in Michigan. To get a list of buildings, just choose:
1.the city, county, or zip code you want to live in,
2. the apartment type: FAMILY, ELDERLY (for seniors), DISABLED (for people with disabilities), or HEALTHCARE (if you need assisted-living, usually for seniors or people with disabilities)
3. the number of bedrooms
Click "Next" and a list of available buildings that fit your description will come up.
